The GeoMentor Program was launched in 2009 by the Environmental Systems Research Institute based in California and the National Geographic Society in a formal effort to encourage geoprofessionals to mentor educators and students in using Geospatial technology.

The GeoMentor Program was launched in 2009 by the Environmental Systems Research Institute based in California and the National Geographic Society in a formal effort to encourage geoprofessionals to mentor educators and students in using Geospatial technology.

Geosys has been active in GIS Education since 2007 and in using GIS for various frontier application areas of GIS. As such we are interested in popularizing the applications of geospatial technology at various learning centers in India.

Following are the objectives of the GeoMentor program initiative taken up by Geosys:

1.Partner with Educational Organizations offering Higher and Secondary Education in various disciplines and support the educators in working with GIS tools, Geospatial concepts or project ideas.

2.Conduct Seminars on various application areas of Geospatial Technology.

3.Provide an internship for youth, or for an educator.

An Educational Organization Partnering in the GeoMentor Program initiative of Geosys may derive the following benefits:

1.Development of the Educators and the student’s skills in using Geospatial Technology.

2.Get Placement Opportunities from various organizations.

3.Participate and hold events to celebrate the Annual GIS Day and Geography Awareness Week in Conjunction with Geosys, Esri Inc. and National Geographic.
